PERSONAL TRAINER COURSE

Learn how to apply Kinesiology to an existing practice of personal training in only two days.

Syllabus

This is a 6-month course (one weekend a month) that enables participants to become healthcare practitioners, or just to learn more about how their body works and how to take care of it.

Module 1. Basic Muscle Testing and Evaluation - Dr. J Dunn

Required Reading: (Before class) - Wholistic Kinesiology, Dr. J Dunn, chapter one (book will be sent after registering for class)

Goal: To acquire a basic understanding of Muscle Testing. You will be able to jump in after this weekend and be able to test right away. This class may also be taken alone.

Module 2. Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology - Dr. J Dunn

Required Reading (Before Class) - Eating Alive, Matson, ND
Required text - Know Your Body (or other anatomy texts you may already have)
Recommended Text - Merck Manual, PDR, Medical Dictionary

Goal: To give you a basic understanding of the human body, how it works, and how disease begins.

Module 3. Nutrition -  Dr. J Dunn

Goal: To give you a place to start with your therapies, a basic understanding of Herbalism, Homeopathy, and basic nutrition. 

Module 4. Emotional Work - Aja Warren & Dr. J Dunn

Emotional Balancing Techniques: Emotional Freedom Technique, Meridian Balancing, Feelings Buried Alive, Vital Center Optimization, Evaluation of Underlying Beliefs

  • Discuss business plan requirements

Goal: To give you some tools to address structural and emotional issues with clients. These issues can keep the client from moving ahead with health issues.

Module 5. Bodywork - Dr. J Dunn

Required Text - Touch for Health (Thie)

Goal: To give you some basic understanding of the musculoskeletal system and some wonderful techniques for correcting imbalances that are gentle and non-invasive.

Classes include all the books that are required and the test kits you will need to get started practicing right away!!

Requirements

Patient session reviews must be done on at least 30 patients due the last day of class.

Passing this course for certification requires a 75% average or above. Grades are based on quiz scores and business plan (25%), Patient visit exam sheets (25%), and scores on written (25%) and practical (25%) tests. If you miss a class you may take it the following time around or borrow the DVD's and take the quiz.

Other Issues

The book Wholistic Kinesiology will be provided and is included in the cost of the course as is the first required reading. A large ringbound book Wholistic Kinesiology®, by Dr. J Dunn will be provided as the text for the course. The other required texts are: Eating Alive by Dr. Matsen, Know Your Body (or another appropriate anatomy text), Herbal Defense by Landis and Khalsa, Touch for Health, by Dr. John Thie, Mood Cure, These required texts are all included in the course, along with the test kits for 4 different nutritional distributors. Other suggested books will be available for purchase at the clinic.

Dress comfortably for the classes. Chairs and tables will be provided but you may want to bring cushions or pillows to make yourself more comfortable. We will be using fingertip points, so short nails are encouraged. Tea, water and some snacks will be provided.

We have an 10 student class minimum, if we do not reach the minimum, classes will be rescheduled, your fee will be 100% refunded. After the first weekend, no refunds will be issued.

Certified practitioners (once you have completed the course) or students from previous classes are welcome to take any of the weekends at half price per weekend payable at the door.

Advanced classes in Wholistic Kinesiology®, and related subjects will be offered at various times, let us know if you are interested. Advanced certification requires 24 hours of advanced training. Classes are offered throughout the year on various topics.

At the successful completion of the course, you will receive certification as a Wholistic Kinesiologist from the Wholistic Kinesiology Institute.

Internships are available through the clinic.  They involve shadowing Dr. Dunn or other practitioners, helping out in the supplement room to learn more about supplements, and helping with the classes.
